This is so cool, I love that more of geek & gamer culture is getting this kind of treatment as time goes on. I personally want to see more of this kind of cross media pollination! I'm sure Cameron is going to do an awesome job with Battle Angel Alita, at the very least we know the plot is better than avatar! :)

Just read part of the very last interview Malick gave in 1973, to author-journalist Shaun
Considine. Apparently a lengthy and deep exchange, in which Malick expresssed,
after the release of "Badlands," he was going to be watched by the media and would
probably not be talking publicly again. Be interesting to find out more about that
total withdrawal.

Music videos are replaced by fan videos, mash ups and mock videos and the professional directors have to look elsewhere for work while film students take over and do the job putting the local indie band on YouTube?
That's one way of putting it - another that it was way too easy to gain fame on MTV. Too many slick but ultimately forgettable clips that resemble what they were - ads to make people buy the album.
Today if you're an aspiring director, you have to get the right idea, be inventive or shocking or brilliant enough for the video to go viral and gain YouTube fame. Oh and you probably have to finance the shoot yourself or get donations from friends and family of the band...

Good article...I don't know how old you are but if you can find reruns of the George Burns Gracie Allen show they always worked Carnation Evaporated Milk into the scripts & never cut for a commercial. Harry Von Zell would walk in & the spot would be part of the skit...way ahead of its time.

Thanks for a great site.

Please let me know if I can set up something for you.
